VitanatiV™ ECM
Extracellular Matrix Biomaterials
Porcine-derived, decellularized biologic scaffold materials sourced from specific tissues and organs for medical device development, tissue-engineered medical products, and regenerative medicine research.
VitanatiV™ ECM Structure and Composition
The importance of ECM-specific microenvironment and biological cues for cell processes is well established; cells interact with the ECM and recognize its components, which indicate to cells how to function. This recognition is paramount to promoting cell attachment and proliferation, steps required to promote remodeling of tissues.
Each tissue has a characteristic ECM that contains specific instructions for that organ’s cells. These instructions influence the cell specific behavior and allow the cells to carry out their specific functions within the tissue. For instance, the endothelial cells that cover the inner lumen of blood vessels require a basement membrane (rich in collagen type IV, laminins, nidogen) to expand and cover the interior of the vessel, preventing clotting and allowing for its correct functioning.
VitanatiV™ ECM Tissues and Organs
At Viscus Biologics we have developed optimized processes for each tissue, which vary in function of tissue properties such as the density of ECM, its cellularity or fat content. These processes retrieve ECM materials that preserve the key biological cues of each tissue such as recognition motifs or growth factors, enabling its biological activity for regenerative medicine or cell-specific research applications. Thanks to our robust supply chain, we have access to any kind of tissue of interest, including those already available in our portfolio

VitanatiV™ ECM Form Factors
Our decellularized ECM is available in many form factors to suit a broad range of applications from coatings to wound care medical devices and bioinks for 3D printing. While ECM composition is maintained across form factors, mechanical integrity is preserved in sheets but needs to be rebuilt in fine powder forms.
Form factor flexibility is critical for many applications; contact us to discuss your specific product requirements.
VitanatiV™ ECM Applications
Our ECM biomaterials have found applications in medical device development and regenerative medicine research. We work with medical devices from proof-of-concept design and validation testing to scaled up manufacturing.
Our ECM-derived biomaterials are used as bioinks in 3D printing and are suitable for organ on a chip platforms and organoid research.
